Did the Indominus Rex survive? (And other gnawing questions after JW)

Is the Indominus Rex still alive?

In our last article we made some educated guesses about the plot of Jurassic World 2. After separating fact from fiction, Sam, Jack, Ross and myself took a shot at some predictions pertaining to the sequel. Perhaps going out on a limb, I wrote that the Indominus Rex would be making a glorious return. Why I believe she’s alive? Let’s look at some clues.

IT'S ALIVE!

A lot of people oppose this theory, but I believe it is very much a possiblity that the Indominus Rex is still alive. Sure, everything and the kitchen sink was thrown at the monstrous hybrid, and she was eventually scooped up (and pulled under water) by the Mosasaurus, but since her death wasn’t actually shown on screen, I’m holding out hope that the I-Rex is alive. We also never heard her neck snap and since we know her DNA was spliced with a cuttlefish, she could possibly be able to adapt to the water.

Did the Indominus Rex survive?

The Indominus can change her thermal temperature. She can cloak. She’s extremely durable and highly intelligent. Escaping the Mosa’s grip and swimming/breathing under water don’t seem all that far fetched if you think about it. If you’re made of sugar, spice and everything nice, there’s no telling what you can do.

"She ate the sibling"

There’s a theory floating around saying that maybe the Indominus never ate its sibling, but that it was shipped elsewhere without Claire knowing. We know that Jurassic bosses have a knack for witholding information, and with Henry Wu’s God complex at full tilt, he could very well be channeling his inner Hammond and alter the truth for his own gain.

I believe, however, that the Indominus eating its sibling is crucial for explaining its ferocity and aggression, so I’m not particularly crazy about this theory.

JW2 owes us some answers

Since Jurassic World kickstarted a new ‘trilogy’ with an overarching, multi-movie storyline, it’s only fair that new director J.A. Bayona gets to tie up some loose ends. And there are plenty of them. What happend to Blue and Rexy, or the island, for that matter? Will more hybrids turn up? And how far advanced were Hoskins’s behind-the-scenes plans for weaponized dinosaurs?

In other news

According to the good people at Emulticine.com, 'Supergirl' actress Melissa Benoist will be joining Bryce Dallas-Howard and Chris Pratt in Jurassic World 2. No evidence to support this, however, so we're calling rumor.
